Students Joining This Workshop Gets Perfect Score for Linguistic Intelligence PROJECT.

Feel free to choose any theme you wish to develop. I suggest however, that you write in the science fiction genre both for tackling the themes of either Advertising or Natural Science. For students who are enrolled in both of my classes, you submit only one entry (as the workshop rules say) but get perfect score for the assessment of linguistic intelligence in both subjects in my class.

For those not joining: You are required to write a short story or poem and publish it in our mutual blogsite. Those not joining the contest are limited to the themes on science and advertising. The deadline for posting is the same deadline indicated in the competition guidelines. Not included in the guidelines, but since you are artists, you are required to add a visual component to your story or poem. Note: ADPRAC4-3AD-6 & NS102-3AD-6 are required to write two creative writing projects —one short story and one poem to comply requirements for each of your two subjects.

Ideas for everyone: Recall our class exercise on Einstein’s “riding the beam of light.” Do the exercise on your own again and visit science and advertising places riding your Light-beam Transporter and write the story of your journey. For the classes that have not done this with me, I suggest you try this exercise on your own. For all my classes, I can accurately say that we have discussed the importance of imagination in our study. Joining this workshop is the best time to apply imaginative techniques in our academic and professional work.

I am excited that a student took my suggestion to:

  • Learn science (for non-science majors) by way of acquiring a taste for science fiction.
  • Conceptualize advertising campaigns (my first set of students are advertising majors but for future readers of this blog, conceptualizing skills are for every professional) by studying science.
  • Learn Adverstising and Science by way of movie watching and making. (I have suggested Lorenzo’s Oil as one non-science character learns science to solve his predicament. If one of my students can revue this one, it would be another great thrill for me.)

Luiza confesses that she is not into sci-fi and so double is my thrill that she extended her interest in this area by downloading her copy and watching it the soonest time possible. My hope is that she watches more. Steven Spielberg did lots in this genre. She concludes her review with a question “If you had a close encounter how would you react and what would you do?” To which my reply: I would do my best to make friends with them.
